My experience at the event:

This race is always special. It's probably the only race when all of Lindsey's family takes part, simply because it doesn't require to wake up early in the weekend (it's during the week, at night, start at 7pm), and because it's 20 minutes away from our homes.

It's still a difficult race, especially for the amount of people that take part in it (around 4500-5000), the narrow roads and hills at the start, which slow down the tempo, and the cracking hill around the 7km mark. Also the general darkness doesn't help much.

I had good sensation running this but a slow start and the invisible chilometers marking (I was looking at the usual white/black markers on the road, while they decided this year to make fancy red/black heart shaped at eye level, which I totally missed) made me start my long 3km sprint (all downhill), way too late to get a decent result. At least, unlike last year, it wasn't raining.

I finished just above the 50minutes mark, which is ok I guess. But I'm still carrying way too much fat on me to be able to get better results. Lindsey finished with Robyn, her school colleague, about 30 minutes after me, which was good. Andy finished well below the hour, while Jill, Kirsten and David finished around the 1.10 mark.
