My experience at the event:

The last time I did the Bobbies race, organized by the SA Police, was last year, on a totally different course in a totally different area.
This edition of the race took part is Edenvale, by the Greenstone Shopping Centre, in the East of Johannesburg. Andy and I woke up early and we arrived at the shopping mall with the usual 20/30 minutes spare in time to register and stretch, or at least this is what we thought.

For some reason (probably the change of location and better facilities), the race exploded in numbers, and the registration procedure was a bit weird: one queue to get a form, then out to fill it, and another queue to submit the form and get the number (instead of the usual "get the number and write details on it"). So due to the big amount of runners still stuck in the queue, the original starting time moved from 6am to 6.30 or so (not too sure since we started after everyone left).

The race, on a 11km loop to repeat twice, was actually quite nice. With only 2 hills of some degree of difficulties it provided a good chance to relax and try to push a little. I spent most of the race with Andy, since with a triathlon coming next week, I did not wanted to push too hard. We run maybe 20 km together before Andy's knee gave him problem and I decided to sprint. THe final result wasn't too bad (just above 2 hours) especially since I was trying to get some rhythm going without risking injuries and compromising the week ahead. Andy finished a (thankfully) cool and breezy morning just 5 minutes behind me. And, after that, it was time to get home and get beers.
