My experience at the event:

With only 4 weeks to go before my first (half) Iron Man, I decided to enter a cycling race 60km from home (by the Vaal), with a profile similar to the one I will face (quite flat). The race was called the Countrywide Medals Summer Challenge, and it developed around the Vaal, a nice area in the countryside with very little traffic.

The number of partecipant wasn't excessive, so I could test both configurations during the race: in a group (I think I cycled the first 25-30km with 5/6 people around me) and, on the way back, without, trying to get some feeling on the tribars (still feeling weird!).

My final time wasn't too bad, considered that it was only my second time this year (excluding triathlons) on the road bike. I got up to around 29km/h which for me was quite decent!
