My experience at the event:
What can I say? The longest swim I've ever done in the Ocean (1.9km with some interesting waves and after getting stung by a blue bottle!) in a great time. A bicycle ride that was long but I completed with a decent average. And a 21km run under the sun that really took my to the limits. All done. All completed. Just above 6 hours, which, for someone like me, it's a great result.Sure, it took everything I had to finish it. Pain, some cramps, thirst, heat. But Lindsey and Shari - my technical adviser for the swim - were always around ready to help. Without the water that Lindsey passed me on the cycle run, and the ice lolly made of pure joy that I got during the second loop, I may have finished the race much later!
It was a great experience, showing that my endurance levels are always high, even at this age. And now I can't wait to do another one...
