My experience at the event:
Another year, another crazy November. In the space of 3 weeks, I will complete three different races with three different companions: the classic Momentum 94.7 MTB Challenge with Lindsey, the 94.7km classic road race and the 32km "Tough One" running race. Then I will take a weekend off, and back for 2 more triathlons before it's time to think about Christmas.
The MTB challenge this year took part in a new area. With the start at Riversands (a posh housing development still under construction), the road was really different from what we did the year before.
At the end, it was a better circuit. Instead of having a mixed 30/55km start, with too many common sections, the two races had little in common, and so bottlenecks were avoided, when novices stopped in the middle of some tricky section in front of riders with experiences coming at full speed.
The course was tricky, but not impossible. Sure, I did it at a relaxed pace with Lindsey, but, unlike last year, she stopped only few times and managed to conquer some tough hills (on the hardest ones there was always my hand behind her back to give her a little push).
After almost three hours we arrived safely to collect our medal, under an unforgiving sun.
