My experience at the event:

I may be a terrible swimmer, but I really enjoy swimming long distance races. I decided to do the suncity swim mostly because of the opportunity to have a qualifying time for next year's Midmar Mile, and to take advantage of the free entry in the Valley of Waves in order to spend a day with Lindsey, Kirsten, Andy and my nephew Campbell.

My race (the 3r of the day, 1500 meters) was the usual affair: some chaos at the start, and then a long, solitary swim since I really can't keep up with most of the other contestants, and I can't go straight for shit. The final time and position was what I expected, even with an annoying cramp in the last 50 meters - where I mostly paddled like a dog to relax the leg - but I was overall happy.
