My experience at the event:

In a year when I turned 40 and  I basically stopped doing as much sport as I used to (I'm down to running, winter excluded, and my usual football), while trying to find a balance between life and work, I was looking forward for the two last races of the year: the classic 94.7 Cycle Challenge and the Tough One a week later.

With my usual bro-in-law Curtis ready to start with me for the 9th consecutive year, we decided to simply take it easy and finish without too many complications. And this exactly what happened. On a course that starts slow, climbs steadily until the mid mark (with a great section on the Kyalami GP track) and then speeds up until the last 3 crazy hills at the end (KOM, Steyn and arrival), we took our time, and enjoyed the 4 hours plus of discomfort on our asses, after being off the road bike since basically the last 94.7 in 2016...

At the end Curtis gave up only in the last 5 km, after the KOM, and finished 5 minutes behind me, but a good lunch at Hooters helped us feeling much better!
