My experience at the event:

581 days. This is how long I've been away from wearing my uniform and playing football in the league.

Let's be honest, the past few years have not been keen on my body. In 2018 I broke a foot, had a concussion and then broke my hand at regular intervals. It took me a while to recover, but after a somehow tricky 2019, in 2020 COVID hit just when I came back from my paternity break (my second son, Avery, was born in December 2019, poor dude has literally spent a lifetime in lockdown!). I decided to get my hip checked after few years of discomfort only to end up having a hip surger in December 2020 to fix my issues for good. 10 months later I was able to finally finish my rehab and I decided to get back into the game.

It was great to see my team again, even if so many new faces joined in the last 18 months. And I played more than I expected (due to injuries in the starting 11), but the feeling was glorious. Sure, I couldn't run much yet (at least compared to the past) and my shooting is still difficult, but I could finally play pain-free for the first time in years! We won 1-0 at the end but the results wasn't that important (it's a lie, winning always helps). I couldn't event walk for a week after but that was my body telling me to fuck off after I tried to cash checks that it wasn't ready to deliver...
